My Journey to The Sassy Sexologist

Hi, I’m Providence, the founder of The Sassy Sexologist, and I’m so glad you’re here.

Growing up, I always wished I had a guide to talk to me about the things that truly mattered. I needed someone to explain the basics of our bodies, to explicitly teach me about the vagina as a whole and to offer a clear, healthy guide to sexual behavior. But more than that, I needed someone to teach me about relationships: how to love and be loved properly, how to spot red flags and how to navigate abusive situations.

Preparing for Marriage, Missing a Piece

Years later, when I was preparing for my wedding, I looked for someone to come to my bridal shower who could teach my guests and me what to really expect from marriage, and how to mutually please a husband or partner. Of course, prayer is one of our pillars, but what about the bedroom? Once again, I looked and I couldn’t find anyone.

Therapy Session Discussion

In our culture, sex and intimacy have so often been treated as taboos. We are told that what happens in the marriage bed stays there and that you must suffer through your struggles in silence. I decided to break that silence. I chose to become the Tete, the guide, the mother, and the big sister I always wished I had.
